National Sport Day: QIIB employees join ‘Walkathon’ at Corniche

DOHA: In order to encourage the noble values and objectives of sports, QIIB contributed to the organisation of the Qatar National Sport Day activities this year, bringing together the members of the banking sector and the various categories of the Qatari society including citizens and residents.
The event has become a milestone in supporting sport and encouraging everyone to participate in sport events, based on one’s his ability, energy and attitude.
QIIB employees took part in this year’s National Sport Day events by joining the ‘Walkathon’ on Doha Corniche, organised annually by the Qatar Central Bank.
Participants included QIIB CEO Dr Abdulbasit Ahmad Al Shaibei and senior executive managers of the bank.The active and effective participation of the Bank’s employees reflected their belief in the importance of this day, as it represents Qatar’s keenness to encourage sports and a healthy lifestyle that benefit all members of society.
Commenting on the organisation of the National Sport Day this year by QIIB, Dr Al Shaibei said, “Our beloved country has become a name for excellence and creativity in many fields. Sport is one of them. Qatar has become synonymous with global sports, embracing the most important events and competitions in various team and individual sports. The most important international sporting institutions have recognised the success of our country in hosting and organising international, regional and local championships, which is a matter of pride for us all”.
He said, “We at QIIB are keen every year to contribute to organising and participating in the activities of National Sport Day. Sports represent the energy and the building of a healthy society, whose individuals are fit enough to live a vibrant life”.
“In addition to the participation of the QIIB employees in the activities of National Sport Day each year, the Bank encourages them to engage in sporting activities throughout the year. This enhances the interaction between the employees of the bank and contributes to adopting sports as a lifestyle, which is consistent with the social trends that encourage sports of all kinds”, he stated.
QIIB’s CEO reiterated that “Aware of the importance of sports in the community, QIIB has long been supporting various sporting events, whether they are related to clubs, or other tournaments. We believe in the partnership between the profit-making financial institutions and the non-profit institutions that perform great services to our community”.
Dr Al Shaibei noted, “National Sport Day reminds us of various popular sports and the significance for our society to engage in those, thus gathering all sections of the society - from officials to citizens and residents, young and old, men and women. This creates awareness about sports and its benefits to the state and society”.
