Asian Town to host Qatar-Uganda cricket match series

DOHA: Asian Town is hosting cricket match series between Qatar and Uganda under slew of sport activities on the occasion of the National Sport Day.
“An international cricket match between Qatar and Uganda will be held tomorrow from 8:30am to 12:30pm at Cricket Stadium of Asian Town,” Riyaz Cheroth, Sports and Recreation Manager at Ibn Ajayan, the Management of Asian Town told The Peninsula.
He said that the cricket match series includes three T20 and two one day matches between two teams. Sports cars will be another attraction for the visitors of Asian Town on the Sport Day.
“A total of 200 sports cars will be visiting the venue of sport activities, an open ground in front of Cricket Stadium at the Asian Town,” said Cheroth.
He said that a “Bicycle Fun Race” with the participation of 100 cyclists will begin at 8:30am with opening ceremony. “Various expatriate communities - male and female - including Indian, Nepalese and Filipinos will be playing matches of basketball and volleyball,” said Cheroth.
He said that basketball match would be held between 8:30am to 4pm and volleyball match for men and women will be played from 9am to 4pm.
“A famous Moroccan expert will be demonstrating a warm up physical fitness exercise from 8:30 am – 11:30 am to create awareness among visitors about the importance of physical exercises,” said Cheroth.
Asian Town will be organise special programme for children and families. Children can participate in poster painting competition from 9am to 11am and “family meet with fun games” will be held between 8:30am to 12pm.
A mobile vehicle for blood donation from Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) will be also available from 9am to 1:30pm
Event will begin with an opening ceremony with a bicycle fun race at 8.30 am followed by games including basket ball (males), volleyball (males and females), cycling and skating.
Other activities will be team building/obstacle relay, karate demonstration class, poster painting competition, tug of war competition in association with Indian Sports Centre, cricket match, cricket bowled out competition, car show and kids sports meet etc.
Prize distribution ceremony will be attended by P. Kumaran, Ambassador of India.  Yousef Al Kuwari, President of QCA will be the chief guest in international cricket match final ceremony.
Ibn Ajayan Projects will distribute sports day branded T-shirts to all participants.
