Huge number of people enjoy Spring Festival

Doha: A huge number of people opted to spend the first day of the year enjoying the various offerings at the Souq Waqif Spring Festival yesterday, including some fresh and exciting features brought by local entertainment provision company QSports.
Said to be the biggest and longest entertainment extravaganza in the country, the festival, which saw its official launch on Sunday, runs for four months and features over 60 attractions and activities including 36 amusement rides and games spread on two separate locations in the Souq.
While Zone A, which is located at Al Ahmed Square, encompasses a theme park with 25 amusement rides for all ages, Zone B which is at the Western Square contains an inflatable park with unique and interesting features that many visitors, mostly families, enjoyed yesterday.
The Western Square was bursting with excitement as children took the wheel at the Kids Driving School which teaches them how to drive, provides a feel of driving in a neighbourhood and more importantly how to drive safely.
It was an amazing adventure for others who tried zip-lining or descending the Giant Slide or getting active in the largest outdoor trampoline park in Qatar. Inflatable bumper cars, trackless train and gigantic inflatables including pirate ship and bouncy castles as well as the biggest-of-its-kind ocean ball pool are among the other features at the venue.
The theme park at Al Ahmed Square includes a host of amusement rides including Octopus Ride, Disco Tagada, Romantic Coffee Cup, Mini Roller Coaster Ride, Happy Swing, Music Express Ride, Moon Embracing Ride, Helicopter Tanks War, Luxury Flying Chair, Self Control Bees, Kite Flying Ride, Dragon Roller Coaster, Energy Storm, Run Horse, Water Land Chariots, Crazy Wave, Frog Jump, Bumper Cars, Speed Car, Heli Racer, Crazy Car, Mini Pendulum Ride, Samba Balloon Ride and Luxury Carousel, in addition to carnival skill games.
Rides and games are priced from QR10 to QR35. A Gold Pass worth QR150 is also available providing a visitor chance to try all rides for the day.
Hundreds of visitors were entertained by a variety of acts staged by a motley of artistes including dancers, stiltwalkers and clowns. They also took the opportunity to have their photos taken with a number of mascots roaming around the festival venue .
More than 30 food trucks and carts offer a variety of culinary delights to satisfy visitors’ palates including burgers, crepes, waffles, corn on a cob, pancakes, potato rolls and French fries as well as beverages including juice slash, smoothies, karak and coffee, among others which many festival visitors sampled.
Running until April 25, the festival promises to be the country’s largest outdoor entertainment event this year which also highlights over 40 live entertainment shows and street performances, as well as special performances on National Sport Day.
As one of the major offerings of the upcoming Shop Qatar 2018, the festival will also witness a number of other offerings such as shopping and hotel promotions, among others.
Souq Waqif Spring Festival is presented by the Organizing Committee of the Private Engineering Office in collaboration with QSports and strategic consultant Russell Lloyds and is sponsored by QNB.
It is open Sundays to Wednesdays from 3pm to 10pm, Thursdays from 3pm to 11pm, Fridays from 2pm to 11pm and Saturdays from 12pm to 9pm.
